Want to learn how to choreograph and create your own dance? Want to see your creation in our end of year shows? This is an exciting opportunity for all the budding young choreographers out there.
Choreography workshop - Sunday 28th August 2pm - 4pm Rise Dance Co Historic Village studio
$30
Try some new choreography techniques and learn to think outside the box when creating your dances. This will be a a mix of practical workshop and theory. Students will also be given printed material to take home.
This 2 hour workshop is open to students from 9 years old and up but please note you will need a decent level of concentration.
Choreography competition - Sunday 18th September from 2pm
The competition isn’t compulsory however, if you would like to participate in the competition you must attend the Choreography workshop first in order to receive the instructions, rules and criteria.
The competition will be held on Sunday 18th September from 2pm (we will contact entrants 1 week prior to confirm their time slot), at our Historic Village dance studio. Entries will be staggered and the only people in the room will be the judges, the choreographer and the dancer/s – there will not be an audience or other participants observing.
We will be awarding first, second & third places as well as highly commended. All participants of the competition will receive a participation certificate.
The winner of the competition will have the opportunity to showcase a dance piece in one of our end of year shows and receive a mention in the programme.
The purpose of the workshops is to extend dancers by giving them a new insight in to another aspect of dance. The competition will give those that are interested something to work towards.

FRIDAY 23 SEPTEMBER - our term 3 dance classes finish
26 SEP-7 OCT - School Holidays (no dance classes but holiday programme operating in Tauranga)
MONDAY 10 OCTOBER - our term 4 dance classes start ( 5 weeks at usual venue) plus:
SUNDAY 30 OCTOBER- Tauranga Show rehearsals Merivale Action Centre
SUNDAY 13 NOVEMBER - Tauranga Show rehearsals Merivale Action Centre
FRIDAY 18 NOVEMBER - Tauranga show rehearsals at Baycourt Theatre
SATURDAY 19 NOVEMBER - Tauranga shows at Baycourt Theatre
